PPE REQUIRED
PRE-START CHECKS
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as listed above
- Ensure all personnel are trained and competent to perform the task at hand
- Ensure personnel are fit for duty
SAFE WORK PROCEDURE
- Always use a spotter when required to back up.
- Park in position not to damage ground or property
- Park truck pointing North or South parallel to the station ensuring bin door is parked directly in front of station to minimize hose length.
- If truck has air system apply park brake (spring brakes), if automatic transmission place transmission in park and apply manual park brake.
- Proceed to the rear door of waste bin and swing it to the fully open position, place door safety chain in open position retainer.
- Proceed to the Calcium Station and remove enough application hose to comfortably reach the rear opening of waste bin.
- Ensure the nozzle is in the closed position and the hose is not kinked or twisted as to not restrict flow.
- Return to the Calcium Station and walk-up steps to top of platform, open the supply valve at the base of the tote, pull it towards yourself so the handle is in line with the Blue Supply Hose that is attached to the pump below. The system is now charged with fluid.
- Carefully step down from the platform and turn on the power supply to the left of the platform (red switch to up position) the flashing red light will illuminate and pump will turn on.
- Proceed to the spray nozzle and begin to spray fluid half way up the front and sidewalls and finish spraying the floor of bin. Rear door spraying is optional.
- Use your discretion on the amount of fluid applied, a little does a lot so no need to soak it heavily. Your experience will tell you when enough is used.
- Return to the power switch and press red lever down to shut system off.
- Climb steps on the platform to close the supply valve by pushing the valve handle to the closed position so it is 90 deg to the Blue Supply hose.
- Step off the platform safely and coil application hose back on the hanger neatly for the next driver and to keep it off the ground so it doesn't get damaged from truck or equipment traveling past the station.
- Return to truck, release the door safety chain from the locked position and swing rear door closed ensuring hands and fingers are away from the pinch point when door makes contact with the bin. Latch the door lock and stow the safety chain in the trace position.
POST-JOB PROCEDURE
- Perform a visual inspection of site, ensuring it is cleaned up. Look for any damage or signs of wear, reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Record any issues if necessary.
- Do a walk around and make sure everything is clear in front and below your truck, proceed to the drivers position and continue on to the jobsite.
